EDAS Service Report

This report provides you with a snap shot of the activities that have been provided by the Eastern Drug & Alcohol Service and provides some idea of the exciting and innovative services being developed throughout the Eastern region.

Family Support Program

The Eastern Drug and Alcohol Service (EDAS) Family Support Program supports families, friends and carers in Melbourne’s east whose lives are adversely affected by alcohol or drug use. The program helps them improve their skills in selfcare, conflict resolution and problem solving. It develops the family’s existing strengths and improves communication within the family.

An introduction to working with alcohol and other drug issues

This manual provides an accessible introduction to core themes of alcohol and other drug work as well as practical strategies that may be useful in working with these issues. This manual can be downloaded free of charge from our publications section.

Getting out of it: How to cut down or quit cannibis

This workbook presents a practical, step-by-step approach to cutting down or quitting cannabis. The resource may be used alone or as part of other counselling; if the workbook does not help you to change your cannabis use, we suggest to speak to an experienced professional about your individual needs.

Peers for Prevention: Training Manual

The Peers for Prevention manual presents three training programs that were developed to provide interested community members with relevant information on substance use and community resources in responding to community needs. The manual consists of a four session program for parents, a four session program for young people and a single session on holding a safer party.

HARMINISE newsletters

These newsletters were developed as part of the Boroondara Drug Education Project, with the support of the Boroondara City Council. While the newsletters have a local focus on the needs and services within Boroondara, the newsletters cover issues of general interest.

News of Substance

News of Substance began as an EDAS Shire of Yarra Ranges team initiative to raise awareness of local drug and alcohol issues, and to report on what the team was doing. The newsletters have since taken a broader focus on a range of substance-related topics.
