The Family Focus Project is funded by the Department of Health and Ageing (DOHA) focusing on the Eastern Region of Melbourne.The project is exploring the current gaps in resourcing and treatment opportunities to families with a member who is or has been engaged in substance using behaviours.

How does the Family Focus Project support the sector?
This multi-faceted project includes:
Scoping of the resources currently available and development of systems to better integrate available resources;
Review of best practice standards in the engagement of families in treatment services including information, support services, referral and treatment provision with development of recommendations for the services operating under EDAS;
Development of a family-work toolkit to support workers to better assess and evaluate the need for and their ultimate engagement with families;
Development of training packages for Alcohol and other Drug workers on family inclusive practice;
Development of drug education training packages for Youth and Family Workers;
Provision of direct services to families with a member who is or has been, identified with substance use issues.
