Family Support Program

There is evidence to suggest that when families are involved in treatment, there are improved outcomes for the substance user.

The EDAS Family Programme offers support to families, parents, siblings, carers, friends and significant others of problematic substance users in the Eastern Metropolitan region of Melbourne.  Our counsellors are able to offer a broad range of support including:

  • Individual counselling
  • Family and Couples counselling
  • First Response Forums
  • Support and education groups
  • Outreach - appointments at home or other venues
  • Single sessions offering education and support
  • Work in collaboration with other professionals such as doctors or welfare agencies

The aim is to help families by improving communication, conflict resolution, problem solving and the important aspects of self-care.

“You may not be able to change your family member, but you can change your response.”

“Families are the experts in their own situation and can explore solutions that work for them.”
