What Services are Available for Adults?
EDAS provides drug and alcohol counselling to people who are over 21 years in the Boroondara, Manningham, Maroondah, Monash and Whitehorse municipalities of the Eastern Metropolitan Region of Melbourne.
The EDAS adult service offers free and confidential counselling, education and support to people experiencing difficulties with alcohol or other drug use and the people who care for them, such as parents and partners.
EDAS counsellors are based in community health services in each municipality. See the About EDAS section for information on where our main centres are located.
EDAS operates from a philosophy of harm minimisation, where clients are encouraged to set their own goals that the client and counsellor both work on together.
EDAS offers support for people who:
- Want to cut down or quit alcohol or other drug use
- Have already cut down or quit and want to prevent lapses back into higher levels of use
- Have concerns about their alcohol or other drug use
- Want information on safer use and other harm minimisation strategies
- Want information on the effects and potential impact of alcohol or other drug use
- Have concerns about another person's alcohol or other drug use.
